Ever found yourself financially strapped, with your back against the wall? Ever written checks, hoping for or counting on some money to come in fast enough to keep them from bouncing? They need somehow to Get Money Quick – to pay rent, to keep the utilities from being disconnected, to pay a stupid traffic ticket, to pay off a credit card…or at least get the balance under the limit. So what do you do? Well, you can always go out and get a loan. There’s one built-in downside to any loan, though. You may end up with money in your hand to meet an emergency, but now you have a brand-new bill or debt that you didn’t have before. And if you’re like many people these days, your credit isn’t A-1, so you can’t get a low-interest loan at the bank or elsewhere. So you have to look at places that offer easy fast money, but at loan-shark rates. Places such as payday loan companies or car title loan companies. Not only are these places high risk (you can lose your car, or whatever’s left of your credit rating, or have your paycheck “attached,” or even be driven to bankruptcy), but you can end up paying back twice the amount of your loan.
